Laurie Lipton: Interview

who are you?

“I am one of the 21st Century’s greatest draughtswomen… but humble with it.”

One of your Artworks that represent you. Would you like to speak about  it? Can you write a comment about it?

“I have created literally hundreds, if not thousands, of drawings over the past 50 years. My entire body of work represents me. I find it strange that I’m constantly asked to write about my work. That’s as logical as asking a writer to draw about his novel.”

Have you someone or something that inspires your creativity?

“I have been drawing since the age of 4 and my art has served a specific purpose in my life: to express what I see and feel around me. Being a sentient human being has inspired my creativity.”

Have you a place where you expose? What are your future projects? Exhibitions, events, jobs, new collections to show…

“I have just been signed up by a big gallery here in Los Angeles called the Ace Gallery (5514 Wilshire Blvd.,Los Angeles, CA 90036 T: 323.935.3388 ) and am having a show with them at the end of June called “L.A. Sous-Real”. I also have a new book coming out next year.
