Sara Saudkova

 Who are you?

“Czech photographer, tall red-haired woman loving to observe the life through the objective. Born 1967. My life, my family, my work are three parts of my happiness. I live between the photography and my children – it makes me happy and I can´t live without it.

Profession economist.

As the mother of four little children, I take in my hands a camera instead of cooking spoon and iron. And I do nothing other than to absorb through my lense into my negatives all that is important to me and that is reliably passing: the love, the pleasure, the sadness as a longing, smell of the children, the loneliness and the hope.”

One of your Artworks that represent you. Would you like to speak about  it? Can you write a comment about it?

“Maybe the photograph called “Ducks and Drakes” with a man throwing pebbles into the river. It is one of my favourite photograph telling so much about the ancient need of freedom, independence and eternal longing for something. This is the way I imagine the free man, never being tied to the matrimony, obligations and prejudice. Forever free and full of hope and big expectations. Like a boy.

It is hard to say which image I admire more, because I like all my pictures like my kids (and I like them although they are naughty or not). They are part of my life.”

Have you someone or something that inspire your creativity?

“The life and emotions surrounding me. You must only open your eyes and perceive, sense it. Our lifes are full of stories, desire, sorrow, hate, love, loneliness and little joy and the time is always running – it would be pity to not capture it. To stop the time for a while…

I try to find the Beauty everywhere because I believe, that the Beauty has millions of  faces and can´t be limited by some stupid official rules and measure. Every day offers so much of inspiration and new views. And once it happens you take exceptional picture that nobody took before. It is a big adventure.

Maybe you expect some names of other photographer I like ? Well, here they are:

J.H.Lartigue, Jan Saudek, Sally Man”

Have you a place where you expose? What are your future projects? Exhibitions, events, jobs, new collections.

“I can work anywhere. I just need my camera and people-models and some idea. And 2 simple lights when is too dark. I take pictures very often at home, in the garden, in the nature…I am not dependent on some professional studio. I never talk about the projects – it sounds quite hilariously to me, because I let the events come as they want and should to happen. I don´t trust too much in some planning, shedulling, preparing…the best things I did were made without the big speech and complicated preparation. I like to work simply, quickly and I always leave something to a chance and improvisation and current inspiration. Simply said – I always take the pictures, I always exhibit. Soon will be published the reedition of my book.

Next exhibition: Udine and Venice in Italy, Geneve in Swiss, Graz in Austria, Moscow in Russia, Trnava in Slovakia…”

What kind of service do you offer?

“I do what I like and I like what I do. If somebody wants to have photograph taken by me, he can get the image full of imaginations and stories and emotions, made in the old fashioned style on the b/w negative, developed in the darkroom on the classic photopaper (silver gelatine print). Photograph with the distinctive style and “handwriting”.
