Who are you? “I was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, and currently live in Boston, Massachusetts, where I have spent the last 12 years. I have a BFA in Photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and an ALM in Museum Studies from Harvard University. I am moving to Chicago, Illinois in the fall of 2011 to begin the MFA Photography program at Columbia College Chicago.”“ I am represented by Gallery Kayafas in Boston, MA and by the Schneider Gallery in Chicago, Illinois. I exhibit my work reglarly in shows around the country, and my work is in the permanent collection of the Harvard Art Museum and the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.” Projects for the future? “I am preparing for a show that opens in April at Gallery Kayafas in Boston of new work from my projects A Moment Collected: Photographs at the Harvard Art Museum and A Place so as to Stay. With this show, I’m releasing a book from the first project, A Moment Collected, that I am really excited about. I have also spent the last year photographing on a small, sustainable fiber farm in Western Massachusetts, so I look forward to finishing that project and editing it into a book as well. Lastly, I’m really looking forward to making portraits in a new city with my upcoming move to Chicago.” Someone that inspire your creativity? “There are so many people that inspire me. In terms of photographers, right now I am inspired by Dawoud Bey, David Hilliard, Shellburne Thurber, August Sander, Diane Arbus, Sally Mann, and Catherine Opie… and the list could go on and on. I find inspiration in a variety of places and love to read and listen to music. I’m also incredibly inspired by nature and have loved spending time on the farm where I have been photographing. The most intense inspiration comes from meeting and connecting with people through my work- it is a self-sustaining process.”. Transcendence Services : “ My photographs are available for purchase through my galleries and I also accept private commissions.” Contacts : www.schneidergallerychicago.com |
